Launching Cassette
A shelf for good games you can send to anyone.

You used to be able to send someone a game. A link, and they were playing. Cassette is a shelf for good games that still work that way.
That was the Flash years. Then Flash died and took a lot of those links with it, and “browser game” came to mean something you play for two minutes and close. The games people stay up for are behind launchers and app stores now.
The browser kept getting better anyway. It runs full 3D games now. Command & Conquer: Generals, in a tab. And people are making games for it again, a lot of them with an agent next to them. It feels a bit like a Flash renaissance, except the games will be so much bigger.
I wanted a place that treats them like games. A big cover on a dark shelf, something you’d pick up and turn over.

For me the best thing about the browser is that it’s already there. Every phone and every laptop has one. Nobody installs anything, and no app store decides what you’re allowed to put on someone’s phone. You can send anyone a link. The games I want on this shelf are made by people who care about that.
A game that might only ever earn twenty dollars should still get made, and it should still get a cover. I’d love to see someone’s own little Silent Hill up there.
If you made a game, tell your agent:
Publish my game to cassette.gg
Then send someone the link.
