Gameplay

About

Zubspace rebuilds SubSpace for the web: the original eight ships, the original maps, the original physics. Nothing slows you down out here. Thrust carries you until you spend it, walls throw you back the way you came, and a mine you laid half a minute ago is still out there, waiting. Pick a pilot name, choose a hull and drop into Chaos, a free-for-all zone where bots hold the line until other pilots arrive.

  • The original eight ships

Warbird, Javelin, Spider, Leviathan, Terrier, Weasel, Lancaster and Shark, with the sprites and stats of the 1997 game.

  • Momentum is yours to manage

Zero friction. Burn, drift, turn and fire behind you. Ships glance off walls instead of stopping.

  • Always a fight

Chaos is a free-for-all. Bots keep the zone hot until real pilots log in, and the roster keeps score.

  • A full loadout

Guns, bombs, mines and repel, plus rockets, decoys, bricks, cloak, X-radar and portals on the number keys.

  • Nothing to install

Rust compiled to WebAssembly against an authoritative 60-tick server. Type a name, press Play, you're flying.

How it was made

Made with AI

"In this era of AI and agentic engineering, I was lucky enough to be able to use AI to help me rebuild it, so everyone can enjoy it again." (Peter Kieltyka, README)
